Posted on October 16, 2024October 16, 2024 by DGSwain

In the interest of providing our writers with the most authentic and realistic experience from which to write, the RWC works hard to make sure that we have some excellent demos and training.

Bethany Tucker – 2 pm to 4 pm

Exploring the Intersection of Fiber Arts and Daily Life from the Medieval Era through the 19th Century

This hands-on workshop focuses on how fiber arts (especially spinning and weaving) in Europe directly affected and shaped the lives of people, how that changed based on class and race, and how technological advances altered the relationship between the average person and tools that had once been common household items. Bring a bag for your keepsakes!

Lucas Tucker: 4pm to 6pm

Tools and Materials of Writing from Pre-history to the Ballpoint Pen

An exploration of the materiality of writing and the transmission of stories and how that effects our means and mechanism of storytelling. This is a hands-on workshop using historically accurate tools and materials to explore the physical acts of writing and communication. Inks, quills, and parchment available on site!
