Second Annual Writer's Retreat

We are very excited to invite you all to the second annual DCWCG writers' retreat. It’s an ideal time to get to know your characters and plot like never before. During the retreat, you will have dedicated time for writing in sanctioned quiet areas. There will also be a community room for those who want to discuss their projects and bounce ideas off of others. No TV. This retreat is to focus on writing, to get away from day to day distractions. I would love to add no internet, but let's face it, that's not going to happen. If you want to get the most out of your experience, limit your time on the web. We suggest that you research and prep prior to the retreat so you can fully utilize the lake-view writing environment for just that—writing.

If you want to be a novelist … if you are SERIOUS and ready to dedicate time to making your dream come true, join us. It may be the most life-changing four days you will ever have … okay, maybe not, but it will be fantastic!

We will spend the majority of the time focusing on writing time in either a designated quiet area or a community room—your pick. We will have optional: learning sessions (two per day), writing games, and one-on-one critiques with a group organizer for pre-submitted work only (10 Pages, 12 point Times New Roman, 1 inch margins, double-spaced).

The price range will be around the $200 to $250 mark. Depending on your preferred accommodations it may be a little lower or higher, but there will be options. We are looking for a wonderful lakefront location to accommodate all who are interested within that range. Price includes meals and beds for three nights and four days (times listed on this meetup).

Please RSVP on our Meetup page AND send Melanie a message with your email address if you are interested in going, and she will email you with further information. In order to reserve a location to accommodate everyone, we need a headcount and non-refundable down payment of $100 by June 1. More details will be in the email.
